Cistus ladaniferus L.

Origin :
Introduced to the West with the Crusades, it is widely found nowadays in the Mediterranean area.

Description :
A wild and bushy shrub that can reach up to 2.5 metres, Cistus flourishes in dry and sunny soils. Its leaves are long-lasting, often hairy and sometimes sticky. Its white flowers only last a day.

Properties :
Recognised for its role in stimulating blood circulation, Cistus essential oil combats the formation of red patches thanks to its antihaemorrhagic power.

History :
Known since Antiquity, Cistus was used both in cosmetic products and for medicinal purposes to heal wounds and ease pain.
